Minimum Requirements

RECRUIT FIREFIGHTER:

• At time of application candidate must be 18 years of age. 

• At time of appointment candidate must be a minimum of 21 years of age and have not reached the age of 40. 

• Applicants must have a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED). 

• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. 

• Must complete all components of the application and assessment phase (Online Exam, Online Interview, Aerial Climb, Candidate Physical Abilities Test)

• Complete comprehensive pre-employment background and character check, Criminal History Review, medical evaluations, Drug Screens, psychological evaluation in accordance with the INPRS policy. 

LATERAL FIREFIGHTER:

In addition to the requirements listed for Recruit Firefighter, Lateral Applicants must: 

• Minimum of 2 years of career firefighting experience in a municipal fire department.

• Valid Driver's License

• Shall be a member of the Indiana Pension 77 Fund or be eligible for entry into the Indiana Pension 77 Fund.

• Indiana or IFSAC Firefighter II Certification

• Indiana or NREMT-Basic Certification

• Indiana or IFSAC Hazardous Materials Operations Certification.
